Episode 10 - Maui overview
Chef Mike Lofaro and student of the culture Kainoa Horcajo again explore their Maui home, serving as both the foragers and the guides on this latest adventure. They hike in Kainoa's favorite valley to look for strawberry guava, while taking in the rich history and natural beauty. They find their fruits as well as fragrant yellow ginger — both invasive, and both delicious. At the crack of dawn, their friends take them out on a six-man canoe for the ancient art of hand fishing, a method using their own manpower for landing dinner. They end up visiting a friend's farm for vegetables, edible flowers, citrus ... and get a first-hand look at harvesting honey from their bees! Back in the kitchen, Mike takes the ingredients they gathered to make a sweet feast.
